Autumn Equinox

Autumn-Equinox
While the sunny days continue down here at the beach in Santa Monica, the coastal fog is coming in during the early morning hours. Slowly the new season is weaving itself in. Today, September 22nd is the offical start of the new season, the Autumn Equinox.

There’s the New Moon from the weekend and a partial solar eclipse coming up- a lot of planetar activity. Energy is stirring up and we want to be in its flow. Can you feel the shift?

Spiritually, the Fall season represents themes of transition, letting go, harvest, gratitude, and introspection. It’s a time to reflect on accomplishments, acknowledge necessary releases, give thanks for blessings, and prepare for the resting period of winter. The season also symbolizes spiritual renewal, as life cycles conclude and new growth emerges, often after facing challenges.

Transition and Letting Go Like falling leaves, this new season encourages acceptance of change and the need to let go of what no longer serves you and to allow for growth.

Spiritual Rebirth: The season serves as a metaphor for personal and spiritual transformation, mirroring the cycles of life, death, and rebirth.

Fall is a time to celebrate and acknowledge the fruits of your labor, whether literal or metaphorical. To me, it feels like an inner harvest and an opportunity to reflect on the past year’s efforts and recognize the seeds of spiritual and personal growth that have blossomed.

Just as nature slows down, Fall invites deep introspection to understand the lessons learned, preparing us for a period of internal reflection and inner quiet. This new season presents an opportunity to focus on gratitude for the past year’s blessings and nurture a practice of thankfulness.

The combination of letting go and harvesting creates an opportunity for a spiritual reset.

Cultural and Religious Significance

Various cultures observe Fall with traditions like the Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Festival), celebrating family reunion, and Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), which honors ancestors and the cycle of life and death.

In Jewish tradition, the Fall season includes holy days like Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, which emphasize repentance, forgiveness, and spiritual reflection. However you choose to embrace the change, open your arms and receive it.
